When it comes to the classification of geomembranes, it may be complicated for customers who are not familiar with it. In fact, there are various classifications of geomembranes, which can be classified in terms of geomembrane meaning, geomembrane definition, geomembrane material, geomembrane manufacturer, geomembrane usage, geomembrane performance, geomembrane surface, etc.

Geomembrane Materials

Geomembranes can be classified into two categories by material, LLDPE geomembranes and HDPE geomembranes. These are excellent construction polymer chemically flexible materials because they both have excellent properties such as high tensile strength, low specific gravity, strong adaptability to deformation, chemical resistance, low temperature resistance, and good frost resistance.

LLDPE geomembrane, LLDPE geomembrane is made of low density polyethylene. LLDPE products are non-toxic, odorless, tasteless and more flexible. Compared with other geomembranes, it has the properties of high strength, good toughness, large temperature range, cold resistance, heat resistance, etc. It also has good resistance to environmental stress cracking, tear resistance, acid and alkali resistance, etc.

HDPE geomembrane, whose raw material is high density polyethylene, the main component is 97.5% polyethylene, 2.5% carbon black, containing anti-aging agent, anti-oxidant, UV absorber, stabilizer and other additives, can be made into advanced multi-layer co-extrusion blow molding process or multi-head flat extrusion process. HDPE geomembrane has excellent chemical resistance (acid and alkali), UV resistance, strength, durability and stress tear resistance. It is non-toxic, odorless and has a density in the range of 0.940 to 0.976 g/cm3. It has good chemical stability, high rigidity and toughness, and good mechanical strength. It has excellent resistance to environmental stress cracking, low temperature, aging and corrosion resistance, as well as a greater temperature range (-70-+70) and a long service life of up to 70 years. It can be used in domestic waste landfills. Site impermeability, solid waste landfill impermeability, sewage treatment plant impermeability, artificial lake impermeability, tailings treatment impermeability project.

Geomembrane surface

According to the surface of geomembrane, geomembrane can be divided into the following types.

1. double glossy geomembrane, which can be used in projects that require low friction, such as engineering

2. Single-sided rough geomembrane increases friction coefficient, anti-slip function, more suitable for steep slopes and vertical impermeability, and improves engineering stability. Single-hair geomembrane is a kind of geomembrane with rough surface on one side and glossy surface on the other side. In the construction of slope impermeability project, the rough surface of geomembrane is often in contact with geotextile, so as to achieve anti-slip effect.

3. Double rough geomembrane with excellent anti-slip performance, large friction coefficient and anti-slip function. Double rough surface geomembrane is widely used. Double rough surface geomembrane can be in contact with geotextile on both sides in the construction of slope projects to achieve anti-slip effect.

Geomembranes can be divided into aquaculture geomembranes (fish pond geomembranes, shrimp pond geomembranes), engineering geomembranes (landfills, biogas ponds, water treatment), etc. according to their uses.
